WTF are You Thinking letting Devin Hester Go?!!?!?!

Chicago Bears do not resign Devin Hester
This is a simple blog to show Chicago Bears General Manager Phil Emery, if he is not loyal to his players, his fans may not be loyal to him.

Last year we all collectively cried when the Bears all but forced Hall of Fame bound living legend Brian Urlacher into retirement before he was ready.  Sure, he was not the same player he was a few years ago, but he was still among the best in the league.  The Bears refused to sign Urlacher offering him an insultingly low amount of money making him retire.

Now this year rumors are flying that the Bears are not wanting to sign Josh McCowen who came off the bench last year and put up huge numbers and wins in the absence of Jay Cutler.  They may not sign Charles Tillman as well.

But they finally went to far in not signing another Hall of Fame bound record setter in Devin Hester.  I mean what are these guys thinking.  Hester, like Urlacher is not in his prime but is still a real threat on the field.  Teams still do anything they can to keep him from returning the ball.  Everyone, Bears fans or not always stop what they are doing anytime Hester is set to return the ball.  He is exciting to watch, much like another Chicago legend Michael Jordan.

But unlike the Bulls, who changed the face of the NBA generating countless millions of dollars for the team and the league, management of the Bears has no loyalty.  Once they feel no need for a player, that person is out the door.

In todays world of sports you see more Lebron James type of moves with players bouncing around the league chasing a buck.  But the Bears have somewhat been able to avoid a lot of that because of a culture lead by guys like Brian Urlacher and Devin Hester that emphasized the team was a family.  Chicago became a home for a lot of these guys.  But management of the Bears are quick to overlook all that and let players go.

Anyone remember the best football movie ever, Brians Song?  In one scene after repeated medical procedures George Halas came to visit Brian Picolo.  Halas told him not to worry about the medical bills it was going to be taken care of.  Halas also gave the family access to a plane to fly back and forth to see Picolo while he received treatment.  Everything in that scene really happened. That is the culture the Bears have been raised in.  Being a real, honest and loyal man.  Not concerned about money, but doing what is right for your team and family.

It really saddens me to see Hester go.  Seeing him in anything other than orange and blue does not seem right.  Its kind of like seeing a picture of Joe Montana in a Chiefs uniform, you never get used to it.  But unlike Montana, there is no great youngster like Steve Young waiting to fill Hesters shoes.  At least the Niners had another great to win games and take the place of a legend.  But Hester, he was special.  No other player has ever done the things he does on the field.

It just baffles me, the Bears will probably loose more money on Hester jersey sales than the difference in the contract they could not agree on.

So I am giving all you Bears fans a call to action to like this page on Google+ or Facebook or whatever social media you can and let management know we want our Bears to retire as Chicago Bears.  Who is next?  The way things are going they may just let the Bear itself go to free agency.  I don't know about you, but I hear their are a lot of new Seahawk Fans, maybe I will think about jumping on the bandwagon.......on second thought I would rather not.
